Found a bed of submerged hydrilla in a pocket near a canal. A lipless crank bait was key to getting bites. This technique is popular when working this type of vegetation.

Slow day. My only 2 fish came on the Berkley choppo. It began to rain unexpectedly. It was a light rain and it seemed to stir up some action. I was running the choppo down a weed line when it was slammed by a 15 inch bass to put me on the board. A few casts later another one blew up the ole choppo the same way. After that I couldn’t buy a bite. Always a good day on the water.

Fishing a wacky rig shallow around isolated patches of emergent vegetation was the key pattern of the day. The post spawn males and females were staging around them in 1-3 fow and the finesse of a wacky rig could not be beat. The purple with emerald flake senko color was key to providing contrast to the water color while still being natural in the green stained water.
