I fished the lake on 04/12/23 to practice for an upcoming tournament I have on the lake. The water temperature ranged from about 64 to 72 degrees across the lake, and the water clarity was pretty stable everywhere I went, with about a foot of visibility, and a slight greenish hue to the water. I got out to the lake at about 1:30 PM, and it was sunny outside with virtually no wind at all, and almost no clouds. Outside temperatures were in the high 70's and low 80's for the entire time I was out there. I spent the day targeting matted vegetation along steeper banks out in front of flooded brush, and the flooded brush itself, in smaller main lake pockets where the water was warming quickly and fish were positioning on beds. I targeted these areas with a weightless fluke fished slowly along the bottom in holes in the grass, and a chatterbait around the edges of the grass and the brush. After catching several nice ones doing this, including the 5.20 pictured below, I was also able to go find some rip rap banks on bridges and the dam across the lake and catch some solid fish cranking a squarebill as well. Overall it was a great day on the water, Lavon is fishing very good right now, so be sure and get out there! Thank you all for reading my reports and good luck!

Water level was up higher than normal, water temps were mid to upper 50’s, clarity was more stained than usual. Started at the cove near Lavonia park ramp flipping flooded bushes. Saw lots of frogs but no fish. Moved my way out to the rip rap and boat ramp and changed to stealth blade jackhammer with green and chartreuse swirl kamikaze swimon thinking it’d be something they could key in on easier. Fished multiple casts paralleling the rip rap in about 10 - 12ft letting the chatterbait hit bottom and erratically yo yo retrieve back making sure to hit as many big rocks as possible. Then I got hammered by a nice prespawn lady bass, all fattened up with eggs. Gave her kiss and thank you and sent her back on her way!
