Michael Rekas reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Tubes technique and St. Croix Victory Spinning Rods on Pool 1 Mississippi. Additional comments from this report: "Fishing the river this weekend was tough, smallmouth were not reacting to moving baits like they have been which forced me to slow down. Once I switched over to a free rig, bites became much more frequent. On the retrieve, I slowly dragged the free rig allowing the weight to fully contact the bottom. The current and small hops with the rod gave the tube plenty of natural action. Good Luck!!"

Pre-spawn conditions, water temps unseasonably cold for late April in the mid 40s. Found smallmouth grouped up in current seams behind islands in backwater channels. Relating the sand ditches near the current seams. Both stupid tubes and ned rigs worked well.

Fish were set up on rock piles in 20 feet of water. All fish were caught dragging and stroking tubes of the bottoms. Darker color tubes with flake we’re producing well compared to liter colors.

Additional comments from this report: "West Michigan Bass tournament on the Traverse City area circuit. Bass are a little skiddish on the beds but with patience you could get then to bite. Cracking a tube in 12 to 15 FOW is also a great technique virtually all season."

Additional comments from this report: "Bass ranged from near shore to >6" water. All bass were caught around emergent vegetation. The area where it transitions from shade to sun seemed to be a hot spot. I slowly hopped the tube over the vegetation."

We got one of the first cold fronts of the fall with strong north winds which lead to the fish being finicky. Water temp was around 64 degrees and the fish wouldn't cooperate to the typical late summer patterns. The 2.75 tube in green pumpkin was the only way to go once we found a school located on an Island point holding tight to boulders. Plenty of fish caught ranging from 3-4 lbs on a single island point. The key was finding points that dropped into deep water."
